What is a Robots.txt Generator Tool?

Robots.txt is the short form used by SEOs and tech-savvy webmasters for describing the robots exclusion standard. This means that the robots.txt file instructs search engine spiders and robots which parts of a website to avoid. These instructions can be placed on a website by using a simple, easy-to-use robot.txt generator.

However, web crawlers that target websites in order to spread viruses and malware ignore robots.txt and browse the directories of websites that the robots.txt prohibits them from visiting. Not only will these malicious robots ignore the robots.txt instructions, but they will also visit the pages and directories that are prohibited. This is how they spread malware and ruin websites.

There are two important factors which you must be aware of. These are:

The typical robots.txt instructs search robots not to visit certain pages directories on a website will look like this:

User-agent: *
